9-22-17 – Williamsburg, OH - A late season push by mother nature brought some summer weather back to the racetrack and the heat on the track was quite exciting at Moler Raceway Park!

The night started out with our Parade of Champions during the National Anthem!

2017 Track Champions
Late Models-KODY EVANS

The feature events started off with the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series and their postponed Billy Bob 20 event that was originally a portion of the Hillbilly 100 Weekend at Tyler County Speedway back on Labor Day. The event got cancelled and MRP was able to add it to the weekend’s schedule. At the drop of the green flag it was Steve Duderstadt out front of the 17 car field but it was quickly evident that Steven Partin was going to be the man to beat as the driver from Peebles, Ohio was able to work the high-side of the racetrack to perfection and was able to drive past Duderstadt and drive away to claim the famed “Milk Jug” trophy. Duderstadt would hold on for second with John Minshew claiming 3rd place.

In the Late Model Division it was Josh Rice behind the wheel of Gary Engle’s, Carthage Auto Parts, Stephen’s Heating & Cooling sponsored Revelution chassis who at the drop of the green flag would take to the top spot that he would not relinquish as the youngster would charge through the field and lap all but the top 4 finishing machines. Kody Evans would come home in second (after an early race battle with John Mollick who would end up in 4th spot). Jesse Lay won heat race #1 but would settle for 3rd in the feature event with Nick Dohm settling for fifth spot.

The Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mods would see 19 cars on hand and would see a crazy race turn even crazier on the final lap. Early in the race it was Kyle Tarvin out front following his heat race win. Heat race winner Dallas Pickelheimer would spin in lap 2 from his second position and the track champion would have to restart from the tail. On the restart it was 3rd place starter Jamey Adams jumping to the lead ahead of Tarvin and it looked as though Adams would claim yet another win despite the pace of the race being slowed by a significant number of cautions. With about 5 laps remaining Dan Hurt found a lane on the topside of the track and the driver from Mt Orab would make a charge. Coming for the white flag Hurt tried to crossover Adams and the two would make contact heading into turn #1. As they raced into the final turns it was Hurt out front but Adams would slide up in front off of 4 where the two would make contact. Adams was charged with the caution relegating him to the tail for the restart but Hurt would have to go pit-side to change a flat tire. Through it all it was BJ Branham slipping through and he would restart out front and take his 3rd feature win on the season in his Branham Trucking sponsored machine. Josh Davis would come home in 2nd spot with Steve Nobile, Dallas Pickelheimer, and Brian Sammons completing the top five positions.

Matt's Graphics UMP Modifieds would see 28 cars on hand trying to make the 20 car starting field. In heat race action it was Pete Holt, Josh Rice, and Jimmy Lennex Jr taking wins with Patrick Alcorn claiming the B-main victory. In the $1,000 to win feature event it was Rice jumping to the early lead in his 2Brothers, Kuzman machine and the youngster set sail and was beginning to check out in the 25 lap event. By lap 18 or so a problem seemed to develop as the left front tire on the leader would begin to go flat. Rice was bound and determined that he was going to win his second feature of the night and the driver out of Verona, Ky would change his line through the turns to maintain his top spot. At the checkers it was Rice taking his second feature victory of the night. Weasel Rhoades would come home in second with Adam Stricker, Pete Holt, and Pete Brunton completing the top five spots.

The final division of the night would see the Cohen Recycling Compacts take the track and the 17 car field wouldn’t disappoint as they were the only division to run green to checker with no cautions. From the beginning it was Jake Stamper’s night as the driver from Covington, KY would lead all 20 laps and claim his first career feature win. It was far from easy as TJ Wright and Cordell Moore would pressure the youngster but to no avail. Moore would claim second spot ahead of Wright with Devin Puckett and Brandon Stephens completing the top five positions. Stamper and Wright were heat race winners.

Thanks Steve Alcorn and Dirtstar for the Awesome Pics!
