A Night Full of Side-by-Side, Three and Four-Wide Racing for L&M Performance Modified Mania! 



6-2-17 Williamsburg, OH - L&M Performance Modified Mania a huge success with a very stout field of cars in action on the Fastest ¼ Mile! Winning heat races were Verona,Ky’s Josh Rice, Winchester,Ohio’s Weasel Rhoades, and Columbus, Indiana’s Devin Gilpin. In the B-main event it was Larry Pickelheimer claiming the win. In the feature event it was Adam Stricker jumping to the lead on lap 1 as he squeezed by Weasel Rhoades on the outside of turn 4 completing lap #1. Stricker would lead but the racing behind him was heated as Devin Gilpin, Rhoades, Rice, and Tyler Nicely would all put on a fantastic and furious battle. By lap 13 Gilpin would break from the pack and put pressure on Stricker. On lap 15 Gilpin would take the lead but Stricker and Rice would be right there with him! As the white flag waved Gilpin looked on his way to take the $2000 to win feature but he would break exiting turn 2 handing the lead over to Stricker who would have to fight off a wild last lap slide job attempt by Rice. Stricker would take the win in his Stricker Auto Parts, Just Right Heating and Cooling, Shaw by Godsey machine. Rice would come home second and Tyler Nicely, Nathan Loney, and Jimmy Lennex would complete the top five spots.

The Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mods were next on the card and there was a field of 19 cars on hand looking to take the top spot. In heat race action it was BJ Branham of Morehead, KY and Batavia’s Kyle Tarvin claiming wins. In the feature it was Branham out front at the green flag and he would go on to take the win despite some serious challenges from Spensor Watson throughout the last half of the race. Branham would claim his first feature win at MRP while Watson would come home in second with Tony Seibert, Kyle Tarvin, and Chris Shelton Sr. completing the top five spots.

The Late Models were next on the track and it was Devin Gilpin taking the win in heat #1 and Blake Naylor claiming his first LM win in heat race #2. In the feature it was Gilpin out to the lead with Kody Evans on his back bumper through the first half of the race. Lap #14 would see Steve Casebolt (started 12th) get up to second position over Evans and put pressure on Gilpin for the lead. By lap #19 it was the driver out of Richmond, Indiana taking over the top spot as the 2 leaders traded slide jobs back and forth. But, in the end it was Casebolt taking the win in his Sudz Car Wash sponsored machine while Gilpin would have to settle for second spot with John Whitney Jr., Evans, and Kevin Wagner completing the top five positions.

In the Cohen Recycling Compact division it was Wildman Chris Shelton Jr., jumping to the early lead from his 3rd starting spot. Ashley Logan would follow him from her fifth starting spot into second position and those two would hold those spots throughout the 15 lap event. Shelton would claim the win with Logan claiming her career best 2nd place finish, Josh Lambert would come home in 3rd with Brian Schmidt, and Clyde Pack completing the top five spots. Heat races were won by Richard Dalton and Jake Stamper.
