6-16-17 Kody Evans - 1st Career Win!

6-16-17 - Williamsburg, OH - Members of the Dayton Auto Race Fan Club were treated to a night of racing at Moler Raceway Park and it was Camden, Ohio’s Kody Evans finally knocking the door down for his first career win in his Adesa Auto Auction, Performance Transport sponsored Club 29 machine. In heat race action it was Milan,Indiana’s Bill Sheets and Isom,Ky’s Stephen Breeding taking wins and setting the feature lineup. In the feature event it was Breeding out front with Sheets in tow but following a restart on lap 8 Sheets would have a flat tire and Evans would narrowly avoid disaster as he nearly ran over the slowed Sheets machine. On the restart Evans would make quick work on Breeding and set sail to claim his first career dirt late model feature win! Breeding would come home in second spot with Sheets rebounding from the tail to third position with John Whitney and Chris Shannon completing the top five spots. In the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mod division it was Dallas Pickelheimer and Chris Shelton Sr claiming heat race wins and setting the starting lineup for the feature event. At the green flag it was Pickelheimer out font with Spensor Watson in tow from his 3rd starting spot. The top 2 cars would trade the lead 4-5 times throughout the middle stages of the event but at the end it was Dallas Pickelheimer claiming his first win of the 2017 race season in his L&M Performance sponsored machine. Watson would come home in second spot with Chris Shelton Jr, Chris Shelton Sr., and Tony Seibert completing the top five positions. The Matt’s Graphics UMP Modifieds would see Josh Rice of Verona, Ky and Adam Stricker of Batavia, Ohio lead the field to the green by virtue of their heat race wins. At the end of lap 1 Rice would be ahead of Stricker and as they were completing lap #2 the caution would wave for the spun vehicle of TJ Dalton. During the caution Rice would pull pitside handing the lead to Stricker who would go on to lead the remaining 19 laps and claim his 3rd feature win in a row in his Just Right Heating and Cooling, Strickers Auto Parts, Shaw by Godsey, Forever Homes sponsored race car. Weasel Rhoades would come home in second spot with Wade Rookard, Jimmy Lennex Jr., and Dave McWilliams completing the top five spots. The Cohen Recycling Compacts would see 19 cars on hand and it would be Josh Hammond and Ashley Logan taking heat race wins. In the feature event it was Hammond out front in his Finn Fabrication machine but behind him Justin Dalton and Ashley Logan would have a great battle. By lap 6 Dalton would take control of 2nd position and would waste no time in getting past Hammond for the lead. The Driver from Burlington, KY would take his Mike’s Garage machine to victory lane in the first night out in the #19A machine. Hammond would come home in second spot with Brandon Stephens, Jason Borgenmenke, and Ashley Logan completing the top five positions. There were also 3 separate mechanics races which were action-packed! Those would see Steve Edminsten taking the win in the late model event driving Mike Unger’s #23 machine while Justin Dalton would win the modified/sport mod division and Zach Brandstutter would take the win in the compact division 6-23-17 American Modified Series returns to MRP for a $1500 to Win show, plus Late Models, Matt’s Graphics UMP Modifieds, Cohen Recycling Crazy Compacts and Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mods.
